We started just before sunrise one morning in the end of June and parked the car by the road along the wind turbine above Marathokampou. We then walked in the morning sun along the gravel road up to the Civil War memorial and then continued on the hiking trail towards the Elias Chapel, which is located on the southern side of Kerki, a little over 1,100 m above sea level, with views down to, among other places, Votsalakia and Psili Amos beaches.
Up until then, the temperature had been okay, but the hike down to Votsalakia beach via, among other places, Moni Evangelistria got quite hot. It was a good thing we had brought plenty of water with us.
The hike then ended with a well-deserved and cooling swim.
