Excursion to Manolates

Manolates is a small genuine very beautiful mountain village located on the north side of Samos. One afternoon we turned off towards the village, having been in Vathi “Samos town” during the day, and followed the winding road up through the Nightingale valley. In the spring and also at other times of the year, you can hear the song of nightingales and many other birds in the leafy valley.
Once at the top of the village, 380 m above sea level, we strolled through the beautiful little alleys past craft sales, cafes and restaurants. As it was quite hot, we soon looked for a cafe in the shade in a small alley to cool down with an ice cream.

Manolates is about 50 minutes’ drive from Pantheon Apartments & Studios. Either you take the opportunity to visit the village in combination with also visiting Vathi or Pythagorian or some other place on the eastern part of the island. Or you take a longer visit to Manolates and its surroundings and, for example, leave the car at the parking lot in Ágios Konstantínos and hike up to Manolates through the fantastic valley.
There are several hiking trails around and to Manolates, read more here, Samos Hikes. Samos Hikes – Valeontades – Manolates – Valeontades and here Samos Hikes – Ag. Konstantinos – Stavrinides – Manolates – Stavrinides.
